It's a new dawn, it's a new day...

Celf Berw is the name of my shop on Etsy that I'm about to open and so I thought an accompanying blog might be a good idea, both to record the processes involved in my work and the progress of my little Etsy venture! If you're interested in what Celf Berw means, the reasons behind the choice of name, and how to pronounce it, these can all be found in my profile.

So I guess I'll tell you a bit about me to add to that. I am Welsh by choice, having lived here for the past seven years and found the country, and the people, to be the best I have ever come across. It is a wonderful place with a rich history, particularly when it comes to people producing real products with their hands.

I'm a “Craft-isan” who cannot stop herself from learning new skills and crafts and I recently decided that I wanted to share them with others. I am inspired by nature in all its forms (often seeing beauty in what some would see as ugly) and I adore seeing a riot of colour in my work, my garden, clothes… everywhere!

My passions are clay, yarn, and fibre and I love to see them combined in mixed media pieces.

The picture is of me working with clay... with a broken arm... you can't stop a craft-isan!

I hope you see some things you like here and that you come on back for more.

  1. As shown in the above photograph the Craftisan is an unstoppable force. Not even broken arms nor the ability to stop eating jelly snakes stops some from getting to their drug of choice. In this case CLAY! Note how only after 5 minutes of being in the studio this Craftisan has whistled upa decorative vase, a Venetian style Baroque wall masque and is even getting to the end of a THIRD creation. Genius!

  2. Drat, my jelly snake addition has been uncovered! Must have been your presence in the studio that whipped up that creative frenzy!!! Seriously, I wish I was talented enough to just "whistle up" pieces that easily :)
